This has become my uniform for autumn – the outfit I turn to when I want to feel stylish without having to try too hard (and really, isn’t that always?). This is the fail-safe: a classic Breton tee, relaxed leather shorts and a structured jacket. I wear it with motorcycle boots if I’m roaming the city or one of my many platform wedge booties if I’m going somewhere fancier.

That jacket is amazing. I saw it in the window at Jeans West AGES ago and SHOULD have bought it. kicking myself now.
You look great.
Gosh you’re a babe. I totally need some good leather shorts! x
Amy – Apparently there are still some hanging around at the DFO. If you’re lucky, you might still be able to nab one!
Kat – Oh wow. Thank you! You’re so sweet.
Hi there,
I just started up my own blog: aftertheend.tumblr.com. I am studying styling and creative direction myself and hope to eventually end up working for a credible fashion magazine like yourself. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you land that internship? I can only hope to get the same opportunity upon the completion of my course. Check out my blog also, its a bit rough around the edges at the moment but I’m working on it!
Duuuude. Seriously? I’m ALL over it! thanks :)
Ahh, your Tumblr is beautiful! Clearly we share a similar aesthetic.
As far as landing my internship, I can chalk it up to a few things: being in the right place (Sydney), showing some initiative by emailing many, many magazines, and a fair bit of good luck. I intend to write a full post on what my experience has been, so I will go into more detail then! One thing: most magazines will only take interns who are enrolled in a course at uni/TAFE – this is for insurance reasons. So if you can possibly manage it, do your internship while you’re studying, not afterwards!
Oh why thank you! This has been good. I’m in Melbourne and I understand the majority of the magazines are based in Sydney, so I guess its something I’ll just have to consider in transferring my course over later on. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do though right? I’ll stay tuned for that post, no pressure. Thanks!
hey love,
thank you for your sweet comment re my return to blogging… as for your comment above re a post about your intern experiences, that would be awesome. there would be so many people who would benefit from reading it, it’s one thing to put together a resume and have a dream but its another to pick up your life and move cities like you did. your insights and honesty would probably serve as a reality check to most, and as an affirmation to those who are on the right track already.
