Black silk maxi skirt by Witchery, black silk tank by Dion Lee, Tasunke horse hair necklace by Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons at Occulter.

Summer happens every year, but that doesn’t stop me feeling unprepared and resentful every time the days start getting warmer. This year, it’s happening earlier than usual – mid-October, and it’s already 33 degrees (that’s 91.4 for those on the Fahrenheit system). There are reports in the paper that it’s going to be another hottest summer ever.

An impeccable solution: brushed silk (the kind that doesn’t reflect light) cut into a graceful, ankle-length skirt; a semi sheer tank (also silk); one standout accessory. For me, a hank of horsehair on an oxidised chain is the right kind of talisman to ward off this all-too-clement weather.

Hottest summer for Sydney maybe; we still have some doom and gloom on the horizon down south.

Haute goth in hot weather perfection.

Black for summer always. I need more silk tanks in my life – time to start hunting.
