I’ve been fretting the past few weeks because I thought I’d lost this NARS Cruella lip pencil – devastating, since it’s one of my favourites. I was almost ready to go out and buy a new one, when I rifled through a seldom-used clutch bag – and there it was. So naturally I celebrated by wearing it.

I’m really happy about this look for a pretty nerdy reason: I’m excited about the different kinds of natural fibres. I know! What a nerd. Let’s see: a wool hat, a silk tee, a linen blazer and cotton jeans. Other than the polyester lining on the jacket, that’s a pretty good effort!

You know when you order a bunch of things online (maybe days or weeks apart) and then they all arrive on the same day and it feels like your birthday? That was today.

One of the boxes that arrived on my doorstep was my Montana Midnight Muse hat by Lack of Color. I pre-ordered it straight after fashion week, and have been fantasising about wearing it ever since. When I opened the box, I was thrilled to discover that the beautiful Tess from Lack of Color had included the Midnight Muse hat in my order too! It’s a shorter brim style which is perfect for everyday.

Once again, I’ve paired my Lack of Color hat with a Lover dress. The two labels just seem to complement each other. Oh, and I swapped the nude slip for a black slip under my Tilly dress (you can see it with the nude slip here). Although you lose some of the detail of the lace, I like the black on black effect. But you already knew that. ♥

UNIF.M leather pinafore (buy here) and Ellery Que Sera Sera silk shirt.

The most recent additions to my wardrobe – a leather pinafore from Sydney-based label UNIF.M and a baroque print shirt by Ellery. That whole baroque moment was a little too, well, baroque for my tastes, but this black and white version is pared back enough to work with the rest of my wardrobe.

I picked up the Ellery shirt at a recent sample sale held by the label. I managed to win a $400 voucher to spend at the sale via a competition held on Instagram (to see my winning entry, click here) so I treated myself to this lovely purchase. It works well with the Uniform leather pinafore, right?

So that was quick! The Rodarte t-shirt that I bought from the Moda Operandi Punk: Chaos to Couture collection arrived a week after I ordered it. Props to MO for their speedy delivery.

I was rather inspired by the styling in the promotional shots – a rare occurrence - and paired my tee with the Scanlan and Theodore harness that I just happened to have lying around. All I need know is a big rhinestone necklace and I can copy the look completely.

The leather skirt was the second thing I purchased with the Topshop voucher that I won a while back. I admit it – I already own a number of leather skirts (a quick mental count says five), but this particular one is elegant in its simplicity. High-waisted, straight cut, with those flattering darts at the waist. It’s from the Topshop Boutique range, and the quality of the leather really is impressive for the price.
